If you love to perform in front of an audience, then a job in the music industry may be for you. There are several different musician jobs that you can pursue depending on your talent and love for music.
Performing Artist
This is the most common of the musician jobs. You can become a solo act or get together with other artists and musicians and form a band. This is also one of the hardest ways to break into the music industry, as you have to have real talent and also know the right kind of people. Dedication is key to succeeding at this job.
Background Vocalist or Musician
If you don't want to be in the limelight, but you still love performing, you can do so as a background vocalist or musician. These people are right there in front of the audience, but are not the center of attention. It may be easier to break into the music industry as a background musician than as a lead performer.
Floor Show Band Member
A floor show band performs in nightclubs, resorts, cruises, hotels, and bars for all the guests to see. Usually they put on a specific act that may cover other people's music or have an entertaining aspect to it also. Some floor show bands will perform at only one or two places, or they may travel around to all different cities and locations.
Theater Performer or Musician
If you have a love for the arts, then you may want to pursue musicals as your job. There are parts that need singers and then there is the orchestra pit that needs instrumental players. Off Broadway musicals usually travel all over to perform in different cities.
These are just a small sampling of the many musician jobs that are available. If you have musical talent and want to share it with others, a musician job may be for you.
